The Matador
About This Spot
Stepping into The Matador feels like slipping into a comfortably familiar evening among friends. Nestled in the bustle of Orlando’s Virginia Drive, this cocktail bar strikes a balance between lively energy and laid-back ease. The pace here is unhurried yet vibrant—where the hum of conversations and clink of glasses create a warm backdrop rather than a noisy rush.
The atmosphere is inviting and genuine, marked by a diverse crowd that feels both local and welcoming. It’s the kind of spot where the bartenders know your name and take a moment to connect, without ever sacrificing care and precision in their craft. You might find yourself drawn to their reinterpretations of classics like the Old Fashioned or a Buffalo Trace Manhattan, or intrigued by their house-infused spicy margarita—an experience lifted by thoughtful details rather than showmanship.
There’s also a sense of casual camaraderie here that makes lingering easy. Whether you’re drawn in by the pool table or the quiet corner out front, The Matador offers spaces that invite conversation, quiet reflection, or a spirited game among friends. The music hums at just the right volume, fostering connection without drowning it out.
For those who cherish simple pleasures—the bittersweet balance of a well-made cocktail, the comfort of an unpretentious crowd, or a moment to unwind after a busy day—The Matador feels like a local secret comfortably out in the open. It’s a place where evenings unfold naturally, and the night’s pace is dictated by the people in the room rather than the clock.

The energy is always in good paces when Tiffany is working! Even with a packed bar, she always takes the time to acknowledge waiting guests while still maintaining superior drink execution. It’s also refreshing to see someone who makes a little effort in their appearance !

One of the few remaining spots for locals that doesn’t get packed like a can of sardines. The drinks here are well made, the crowd is always diverse and down to earth. No uptight bougie stuff here, their version of a mule kicks ass and takes names. Recommend if you wanna just unwind, plenty of food in the area as well. The free games in the back room are always a favorite.

Amazing spot, the drinks I tried were lovely, the bartender that served me was great, it's an amazing looking place, and they've got a pool table which was very fun.

Fun spot with a fun atmosphere. Just the right crowd on a Saturday night for a date or going out with a friend or two. Good music and it’s not so loud you can’t talk. I wish they had a better agave program but I’ll def be back. Also, the spicy marg is AMAZING. They make a very spicy pepper infused agave in house and it’s DELICIOUS.

Great local spot perfect for starting your night out! They offer relatively affordable drinks, and the bartenders are pretty cool. There's a pool table that you don't have to pay for, darts, and lots of comfortable places to sit. Outside is a chill vibe as well, with several seats and tables out front - I've been there 3 times, and it's never been super crowded. Parking can be a challenge at times, but there are lots nearby to park at. I recommend starting out here if you're bar hopping and then walking to the mills (about a 5 minute walk, and you'll pass several bars along the way)

I love the atmosphere at The Matador. It’s a great local spot to grab a drink after a long day and the staff is always so down to earth. The girl bartender is really funny and pours a mean drink. I’d go back there for her alone.
